After one month of online voting, Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo still has the fans on his side.

Ronaldo has 41% of the popular vote at bestplayerintheworld.com.

Meanwhile, Barcelona's Lionel Messi is getting the most mentions in the press for "Best Player in the World", with 17 mentions to Ronaldo's 7.

Messi has 33% of the popular vote.

In third place is Liverpool's Fernando Torres with 5% of the popular vote.

It will be interesting to see if Messi's media mentions end up translating into more fan votes as the year progresses.
