People have been hoping for this all season: United vs Barca, Ronaldo vs. Messi, last season's best player vs. this season's best.
And now we've got it.
The fans here at bestplayerintheworld.com have overwhelmingly voted for Messi this season but could that all change if Ronaldo continues to lift his game and United win the Champions League?
Can Messi actually be the best player in the world if his team don't win or if even his own teammates are challenging his status in the way that Andres Iniesta did with his sublime winning goal versus Chelsea?
There are still a few questions to be answered.
Here of course we ask the fans to vote. But we wonder how the two players' performances will affect voting later in the year for the Ballon d'Or and the FIFA World Player of the Year.
Whatever happens, 2009 has already provided enough demonstrations of individual talent from the best players in the world.
