Lionel Messi's brilliant but awkward, looping header will be played over and over again in years to come - and fair enough - but would that goal have been possible without that equally brilliant cross from midfield maestro Xavi Hernandez?
We don't think so.
But Xavi's brilliance is getting lost in the shuffle. Sure, it is clear that Lionel Messi is now the best player in the world, but should Xavi really be behind Cesc Fabregas in our poll, when Fabregas's team didn't make it to the Champions League Final and Fabregas himself is second choice to Xavi in the Spanish team that reigns as European champion?
